This week we have:
Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies
Quick & Easy Buffalo Chicken Bites
Blueberry Cheesecake Buns
For today, Feb 2 ...
Outside my window... Aha, it's not sunny today!! I was beginning to feel like a broken record. The sun has been peeking in and out of the clouds, but it's pretty chilly out. There were a few stray snowflakes earlier, but not enough to even merit a flurry. We soaked up plenty of sunshine yesterday though, spent hours and hours in the front yard, planning our front porch. Who knows when we'll actually build it, but now we've got it all figured out! :)
In the kitchen... While I'm supposed to be eating healthier lately, I have been failing miserably. So I'm starting over, yet again! But I just can't pass up a whole week with no schedule, so I'll be baking for the boys and The Geologist anyway! Lets just say, I'm excited for this week. Things involving Biscoff cookies, blueberry cheesecake, and uber-cinnamon will be coming out of the kitchen this week! I let the boys pick, and chose something that's way too huge to make for myself. Having an office to take things too helps a lot!!

Around the house... I'm learning about decorating. I couldn't get my beautiful new table to look right, and started thinking I needed something bigger, so where did I turn?? Pinterest, of course!! Turns out I just wasn't using it correctly. Now I have a vision, and it will be something along these lines... I need some baskets underneath, a mirror.... and a vase with something tall in it... It's amazing how much I don't know. Pinterest is awesome. Where would my house be without it??
I am going... This is odd for me: usually we have big plans for Spring Break, involving camping or visiting family. But the Geologist has a real job now, and can't just take a week off quite whenever he wants, so we're staying home this time. BUT as long as the boys and I make it out of the week alive and mostly sane, we'll head down to Colorado Springs for a little stay-cation. Hotel pools are awesome.

One of my favorite things... Remember gel pens?? I used to have TONS of them!! And wrote everything with them in middle and high school. Used to make all kinds of awesome doodles and things too, none of which I have anymore, of course... Why do we never rememeber to keep little things like that? I also used to draw all over my hands with them and pretend I had tattoos. Awesome ones, of course. My Dad hated that. Anyway, these were the coolest pens ever. I miss them. These days I use those Pilot pens, the grown-up version. While looking for this picture I saw they have TONS more colors of the grown-up ones... I may have to go looking for those... :)
I am thankful... That this flu only lasts 24 hours!! The fever lingers for a while, but the worst is over quickly. I'm thankful that so far, The Geologist and I haven't gotten sick! I'm thankful for hot showers and comfy blankets and gatorade and ice machines in my fridge and an awesome washer and dryer IN my house!!
A peek into my day... We will relish our cozyness today as long as possible (yes, I know that's spelled wrong, I like it better, so there), watching TV and snuggling in pj's until after lunch, then a quick run to the grocery store to stock up, and back home for nap time. I think we'll have breakfast for dinner, just because we can. Joe is still worn out (and so am I!) so we're just taking it easy today. Perfect day to be chilly outside! Once it's sunny and warm, it's a lot harder to justify being couch potatoes.

Guilty Pleasures... This old French look in furniture. I call it a "guilty" pleasure because it's one I have to keep reined in, or my whole house will look like this!! Everything will be all white and swoopy and scrolly!! My favorite is when it's lightly distressed white or cream with a dark wood top. I love it so much, it makes my heart flutter! I just have to limit myself to a handful of pieces.
Something new about me... I mentioned once that I am just like the little girl from Signs, leaving half-full glasses of water all over the house. It turns out I just have a thing about water. I'm really picky. It has to be cold, and it has to be GOOD. I'm very particular about how my water tastes. When we lived in Missouri I had to filter or buy all of my water, I just plain couldn't drink the water right out of the tap. I know, I'm so spoiled. I can't help myself! Lucky for me, the water around our house tastes AWESOME! The only yummier water I know is the water at the cabin. Hooray for mountain water!!

Bacon chocolate chip cookies????? For serious??
ReplyDeleteI have discovered the joys of adult gel pens in a rainbow of colors and collect them whenever I can. It is horrible. I have too many. I am now a pen junkie. lol And water, it HAS to taste good.I live in California and the tap water tastes wretched. It does taste a little better when cold, but not enough.
ReplyDeleteIt's not horrible!! Now I'm totally on the hunt for more!! I will be your pen junkie buddy. Yeah, cold can help make gross water livable, but it's just not the same. I feel your pain, friend. :)
DeleteWhat a wonderful newsy, fun post! I always enjoy it when I stop in to visit here. Love your picture of the table set up and I'm sure yours will be every bit as pretty. Pictures help so very much. This is a snuggle day here as well. Cold and rainy all day. I did go to pick up my grandson from school and it poured all the while I was on the road. As soon as I got home, on went my jammys and now I'm nice and warm. You have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteAw, I always enjoy it when you stop by too! Pictures do help. I'm not very good at visualizing. Doesn't help that I have very little to work with! After being married to a student with two kids and a beast, we don't exactly collect "decor". But now is the time to start! Your afternoon sounds heavenly. Thanks for visiting :)
DeleteI am really particular about my water too April. Twins from different mothers! Xxoo
