For today, Oct 28 ...

Outside my window... It's cold, and grey, and perfect!! The Beast and I went for a walk this morning and the clouds were so low you could barely see the foots of the foothills! Feet? Whatever. My favorite kind of Fall day! And seeing as how Halloween is over for us, the perfect day to break out the Christmas music!

I am thinking... I haven't been walking much lately, and if the current temperatures are any indication, it's going to be winter before I know it! I am determined to walk every day until it is just too cold. I need to take advantage of this picture perfect Fall we're having this year! Not to mention me and Bracken could stand to lose just a few pounds. She's been a bit neglected, and I've been eating too much junk food! But mostly, I just want to soak in this Colorado Fall in all it's glory! Next year I won't have this beautiful greenbelt to walk on right out back.

I am going... Tomorrow is Stephen's very first gymnastics class! He' over the moon, and so am I! That little bookworm could use something else to focus his energy, and put some use to that passion for the monkey bars! Wednesday... *drumroll*... We close on our house!!! It's so exciting!! The Geologist leaves, yet again, the next day, BUT I do believe this is his LAST trip this year! And he's sent in all his plans for time off, so he gets to start making it all up to me. :)

A peek into my day... Jeez louise, it might be time to break out the space heater along with that Christmas music! After our long walk this morning, I heard our neighbors behind another building and suspected a doggie playgroup... Bracken's whining might have had something to do with that discovery... So we went to check it out, and sure enough! All the biggest dogs around, including a Great Dane and a Mastiff, were having a free-for-all out back, and of course my girlie had to join in! Unfortunately, standing out there without a sweater, I gave myself quite a chill! A hot bath and sweater later and I'm still not warm... Oh well, it was worth it. Apparently Bracken has a boyfriend now, Hank the Great Dane has a huge crush on her!

Around the house... I have a serious decorator's itch at the moment. We barely have enough furniture in our home, we have NO decor. Family pictures on the wall, and a little collection on top of our bookshelf. That's it. No pretty odds and ends and centerpieces and art. It hasn't bothered me much till this year, and now, keep me away from home decor stores! I am just itching to decorate like crazy! Especially for the holidays. I keep telling myself one more year, one more year... this year we get a house, next year I can make it pretty!!

I am pondering... Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, there is just no pleasing certain people. I had something uncomfortable that I needed to tell someone yesterday. I went about it as calmly, kindly, and understandingly as possible, but they still took offense. The whole situation was hard enough, but then they were bad-mouthing me, two rows behind me, at choir practice last night! Who does that?? It hurt, a lot. I wish there was something I could do to fix it, but honestly anything else I tried would probably make it worse. The Geologist says to just let it go. He's probably right, I did everything I could... but it still bothers me!

One of my favorite things... Ivy! Especially if it turns beautiful colors, of course. I know that too much ivy (any at all, some say) is really bad for a building, and can seriously damage it... But I love how it looks anyway! I also love the building in this picture, with all it's nooks and crannies and pretty little windows. I wonder where it is?

I am looking forward to... OBVIOUSLY, closing on our house, and watching Stephen at gymnastics. But strangely enough, there are a few things I actually look forward to when The Geologist leaves! I would rather he stayed here with me, but at least when he's gone I get to order Chinese and watch Bollywood! Party of one, woohoo!

Guilty Pleasures... Crab rangoons, hot and sour soup, sesame chicken with extra heat, lo mein, fortune cookies... Chinese takeout! about85% of the time it's disappointing, but I keep trying. And I actually found a decent place here! There's just something so decadent about ordering Chinese delivered while The Geologist is gone, parking myself in front of a three hour movie... besides, they always give you enough for leftovers!

I am thankful... for Netflix instant watch! Most of my favorite Bollywood movies are on there, lots of kid stuff, and tons to keep me busy and up way too late when The Geologist leaves. It has enough fun things on it that we actually got rid of TV! No commercials, no channel surfing. And saving money :)

  1. I agree with the Geologist, just let it go. YOu did what you felt had to be done, and I'm sure you meant no malice, and you have no control over others, so just let it go.
Also......I love ivy coverd building, too! In fact, I have ivy growing up several of my walls around the outside of my house and although I know I have to cut it back: keep it at bay, I always hesitate right before I start hacking away at it.
    And fall....yes, fall....oh how I love thee!
Good luck with the house closing this week!

  2. I LOVE decorating for the holidays. I decked my place out with autumn decor about two weeks ago :)

  3. You did everything you could have done. This is now their problem. The fact that they didn't take it in a good way is not your fault. Their gossip is also a sign of their maturity level. Take the "High Road" and leave them to their misery. I am so excited to hear about your house and can't wait to see how you decorate it. I love crab rangoons and hot & sour soup too, but I am a heat wimp, so I have to find some that isn't too spicy for me. Have a great day!

    1. Thanks, you're right of course. I shouldn't have let it eat me up! I need to learn to make crab rangoons... So unhealthy, but who cares!

  4. I'm with your husband. Let it go. Hanging on to it will taint your spirit. The fact that they are behaving as they are says more about them than you.
I love Chinese food, but have never had a Chinese Take away over here in the UK. I do spoil myself with the Chinese Buffet back home whenever I go. Not near often enough!
Todd is an old humbug when it comes to decorating for Christmas. I love Christmas, but he hates the commercialization of it and that is all he sees. I Love a good Bolly wood film! When you come over we can torture the men with Christmas Carols, Bollywood films and Chinese food. xxoo
